Jolly LLB 3 Controversy

Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3 faces legal heat as a Pune court summons them over alleged disrespect to the judiciary.

Bollywood loves courtroom drama, but sometimes the courtroom drags Bollywood into real drama. And that’s exactly what’s happening with Jolly LLB 3.

Yes, the reel lawyers Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are now facing real lawyers. And this time, no filmy dialogue can save them.

👉 It’s like the movie script just jumped out of the screen and filed a petition of its own.

What’s the Fuss All About?

Actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, the lead stars of Jolly LLB 3, have been summoned by a Pune Civil Court. The complaint? That the film allegedly disrespects the judiciary and lawyers.

Advocates Wajed Khan (Bidkar) and Ganesh Mhaskhe filed a petition saying the movie’s teaser mocks the legal system. They felt that instead of satire, it crossed the line into insult.

The petitioners even claimed that the actors and makers “mocked the legal profession under the guise of creative liberty.”

Now that’s a line even the best scriptwriter couldn’t make up.

The Court’s Response

Taking cognizance of the matter, the 12th Junior Division Civil Judge J.G. Pawar issued summons to both the actors and the film’s producers.

They have been asked to appear in court on September 28, 2025.

The petitioners also want a restraining order on the film’s release. If that happens, fans may need to wait longer for their filmy dose of witty legal banter.

What Offended the Lawyers?

The main objections are centered on scenes shown in the teaser:

  • Lawyers wearing bands while casually promoting the film.
  • Judges being referred to as “mamu” (a slang term).
  • Courtroom arguments portrayed like a family quarrel instead of dignified debate.

One of the petitioners told India Today that such portrayals are an insult to the judiciary.

To be fair, Bollywood often exaggerates for humor, but when it comes to courtrooms, every word seems to weigh like evidence.

This isn’t the debut of Jolly LLB 3 in the legal battlefield.

Back in May 2024, the Ajmer District Bar Association President, Chandrabhan, also filed a complaint against the makers. His allegation? That the film portrayed lawyers and judges in an “inappropriate, humorous, and indecent” manner.

He even urged the court to stop the film’s shooting.

Looks like the Jolly franchise is becoming a permanent client of the judiciary—free publicity, but at what cost?

What’s the Film About?

Produced by Star Studios and written-directed by Subhash KapoorJolly LLB 3 brings back a stellar ensemble cast:

  • Akshay Kumar
  • Arshad Warsi
  • Saurabh Shukla
  • Huma Qureshi
  • Amrita Rao
  • Gajraj Rao

Fans were already hyped when a teaser video dropped earlier this month, featuring Saurabh Shukla reprising his iconic role as Judge Tripathi.

The film is scheduled to release on September 19, 2025—provided, of course, the legal hurdles don’t delay it further.

The Bigger Picture

Bollywood has a long history of legal tangles. From films being banned to dialogues being chopped, controversies are as routine as item songs.

But with Jolly LLB 3, it’s ironic—a film about lawyers is now being grilled by lawyers.

One might say, “Life is imitating art,” but in this case, it feels like art has been served a court notice.

Bollywood courtroom drama is fun until the real court sends you a summon instead of an award. 🎭

What do you think—should filmmakers have complete creative freedom, or should movies avoid making jokes about courts and judges?
