Umrao Jaan Preview, Trailers & More…

Now for some unfathomable reasons, J.P. Dutta is remaking the yesteryear’s classic Umrao Jaan.

He may have got the casting of Abhishek Bachchan right, but Aishwarya Rai?! Who casts Aishwarya Rai in their movies these days – isn’t Aishwarya Rai still trying to “crossover” to Hollywood?

Anyhow, after his disastrous film Line of Control, I must say I have lost all confidence in J.P. Dutta. Not only was LOC unbearable, it was chaotic, melodramatic, overtly long, and actually featured Kareena Kapoor and Esha Deol sharing a scene together – how painful is that?!

Nonetheless, I decided to some research and see if I could see any Umrao Jaan Trailers somewhere on the net, or maybe some teaser, songs or anything. Sure enough, I found a trailer on ever dependable youtube

Now, its surprising, in our desi blogosphere nobody is really talking about this movie. Charukesi at caferati has few words on the movie, and is concerned about Anu Malik giving music to this movie. I share her concern, though it must be said, Anu Malik did give good music for Refugee. Hopefully he should recreate the same with Umrao Jaan.

Meanwhile I will watch the original classic Umrao Jaan again, and hum In Ankhon Ki Masti Mein till Anu Malik decides to screw it up.
