Now this is another Bollywood movie which is going to be in much news the moment trailers and promos of this movie hit the television and theatres. The reason being (a) It’s a Nikhil Advani film. Nikhil who? You also forgot? Yes, he only made Kal Ho Na Ho / Kal Ho Naa Ho. And (b) It boasts of a gigantic star cast – if you thought Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna had a massive star-cast, just see this: From Wiki’s page for Salaam E Ishq

There. It almost seems as if those found missing in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna will be found here in Salaam E Ishq. No wonder stars are keeping busy these days, if you umm prefer to call the likes of Akshaye Khanna, Sonali Bendre, Sohail Khan (whoa?) and Anjana Sukhani, star materials!

Nonetheless, as always, my Bollywood self decided to investigate a bit more on this movie and find some titbits – I tried finding the trailer or some snippet of some song somewhere, but it doesn’t look like there has been a lot of hype yet. Anyhow, coming back, now this particular comment about the story of Salam E Ishq had me in splits:

The movie weaves a number of love stories together thanks to the relationships of the people within it. How the stories interact is quite complicated to explain.

LOL. Of course – I doubt if Nikhil Advani knows himself about these stories interact. Or maybe it doesn’t matter! Nonetheless this much seems to be clear:

Pairing: Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna and Ayesha Takia, John Abraham and Vidya Balan, Govinda and Shannon Esrechowitz & Sohail Khan and Perizaad Zorabian

Interesting: Govinda and Shannon who? I hope the movie has an item song with Govinda and Shannon doing a rock dancer. Sad, Bappi Lahiri is not conducting the music here. (On a side note, I recently learned that Bappi named his son – “Bappa”. What would they name their duet if they ever collaborated on some music: Bappa-Bappi ? )

Another interesting trivia that came to my knowledge was this movie is based on “Love Actually”. Of course Nikhil Advani denies any allegation of such frivolous stories, but given his capabilities in recreating Anand, I doubt it much. In any case, wiki not being much help, I wandered to my favorite site, imdb to get some important knowledge of Salaam E Ishq.

An excited guy has already started asking some important questions, even before Salam E Ishq has finished shooting:

Will this be a hit or a flop?

Funnily enough, nothing much is going on in the forums either.

In the blogger-duniya too, people are talking more about Salman Khan’s Jail sentence and will he wont he debates. I am sure the jail sentence has already created some good publicity for the movie. OphidiTe does have a take on the movie, with just regular details, but he mentions one entertaining titbit.

Talking to a news agency, one of the film’s lead actors Ayesha Takia said, “I was mesmerised by the script the moment Nikhil narrated it to me. Although I am not allowed to reveal anything about my character in the film, I can say that it is something I have never been offered before. Naturally, I am quite excited and looking forward to work with him.”

Of course Ayesha, you should know by now that every second girl in Bollywood is mesmerized by the script, and of course its unlike anything you’ve played before. Which really means, all you will play is the girl next door in mini skirts doing nothing role.

Sadly, nothing much of interest is lurking around… I will do an update soon once we have some more data, like trailers, songs, mp3 or more from the movie.
