I am very much looking forward to the movie.. I think SRK limps in the promos, though it could be my imagination running wild, but I think he is limping, which could be a part of his character..

Perhaps I could come up with my own imaginary story for the movie.. hmm..

Now Karan Johar has got his genre of verrry nice clean emotional romantic expensive movies. Its not much ‘different’. So Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (English: Never Say Goodbye)will have it all - loveliest nice music, the bestest picture quality, fantastic foreign locations, some lovey-dovey romance, crying-weeping stuff, guddy-woody dance sequences, a pinch of desh-prem(patriotism), some stupidest unfunny comedy and offcourse lots and loads of relationship, confusions and confusions in relationships and more….

[…] Now a few days back I heard that KANK is a remake of English movie… “Closer”. Hmmm… Closer - isnt that the movie about extra marital affairs between straight couples? (pssst… I also heard that Karan Johar’s next movie is “Kaha Main Kaha Tu” starring himself and SRK, and inspired by Brokeback Mountain…). Anyways, thats not quite the point of this post. The point of this is to find out what exactly is the story behind Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna! Now Karan Johar always gets the who’s who and who’s who not of bollywood to act in his movies - for some god damn reasons everyone agrees too. Nonetheless, as I was doing nothing, I decided to look up KANK’s entry in IMDB to get some idea of story line of this movie. Quoted verbatim from IMDB, this is what is the story of KANK according to them: Jai Varma (Shahrukh Khan) and Shalini Sharma (Rani Mukerji) are married to Sharmila Varma (Urmila Matondkar) and Mohinder Sharma (Amitabh Bachan) respectively. Jai and Sharmila also have a son. Jai and Shalini believe that they are content and happy in their relationships. Until they meet each other. What starts as banter grows into something extraordinary. 1) Shahrukh Khan’s acting/stammering/exaggeration is loosing its relevance in the 21st century Indian cinema and will continue to do so unless it changes. People surrounding him, as often happens with people who achieve so much in life, are suddenly plagued by myopia in terms of their ability to be objective - Karan Johar has been afflicted by this ailment. Honest self reflection is difficult but possible - that’s the stuff that makes super humans and therefore super stars.
2) The script while attempting to talk abouut extra marital affairs which is exemplary and required in today’s India was resting on the shoulders of a flawed CHARACTERISATION in the form of Shahrukh Khans. Karan Johar overcome by his own personal love for SRK fails to see that is audience CANNOT bond with a frustrated man, prone to blaming the world for all his problems and treating his kid like CRAP (sorry he isn’t cute and lovable when angry). The character (his own biggest problem) requires some serious soul searching and time at the local neighbourhood therapist. His reason for the extra marital is FLAWED and evokes NO sympathy. It is in this single characterisation, that the lofty propistion of making INdians sit up and pay attention to the intricacies of extra marital affairs is truly lost. The fact that the whole film rests on SRKs (and ranis’) buffed shoulders makes SRK’s overacting in Karan’s flawed character an excruciating 3.45 hours.

3) And i am a self confessed Karan Johar film buff.
