Fanaa Review
I know this is coming in late, but Fanaa (or Fanna as some people believed previously) has been in news for so long now - Aamir Khan, Narmada, Narendra Modi and the likes that it cannot go out of news. Anyways, I haven’t seen Fanaa, and looking by comments its recieving I am not too keen either. Aamir Khan has rocked Bollywood by delivering a super hit Rang De Basanti (a poor movie if you ask me), and thus, i believe there were extra anticipation from Bollywood of this movie. Also the fact that Kajol and Aamir teamed up for first time in Bollywood proved to be enough curiosity value to get our Bollywood buffs going. However the desi write-o-sphere knows best.
Deepa starts of this roundup with a hilarious take on Fanaa:
In the spools that unreel afterwards, he subjects the audience to every known Hindi film formula, starting with Rule No.1: if the Hindi film hero or heroine has an ailment that can be described with the adjective deadly or pity-inducing, they will either die melodramatically, thereby ensuring box office success and tears in the bargain, or recover equally melodramatically and miraculously.
I completely agree with her assessment of Kunal Kohli as a director! RKBlogs shares similar views on his views about Fanaa as well. The man who thinks doesnt think too much about this movie either and writes a hilarious review on the same. Occupied space doesnt give many marks to this movie either:
Tabu is convincing. Rishi looks the part. Kiron Kher is fast becoming the female Alok Nath, which would be a shame given her considerable talent. Sathish Shah and Shiney Ahuja appear have miniscule screen time, and are roped in for the sole purpose of illustrating how ruthless Aamir is.
Verdict: Give this one a miss!
Though charolette is the only one I have found in this roundup who believe this movie is worth a dekho.
Will do another roundup in coming days. For now, I will stay away from Fanaa.
